Raveesh means Flow, Gati, Progress, it also means the world to Smruti, who under this brand, designs and makes eco friendly bags and utility products!
Meet Smruti Shikhare Kukade, a young mother, a designer and now a bag maker whose brand Raveesh has already bagged a lot of compliments and huge orders from happy customers!
Smruti’s journey as a creative person has been an interesting one. After graduating from the prestigious School Of Fashion Technology, Pune with a couple of awards in her kitty, Smruti worked with a fashion designer for a year before she got her big break from the Marathi film industry where she worked as an assistant costume designer for the Oscar nominated Marathi movie HARISHCHANDRACHI FACTORY. More films followed and Smruti was enjoying the creative process which involved a lot of travelling and long gruelling work hours! Marriage happened, followed by motherhood and Smruti decided to take a break to look after her little angel Reva. During her sabbatical, her doting husband gifted her a book on bags and that’s how it all started. She was bitten by the keeda of designing and manufacturing bags and utility products using only biodegradable fabrics!
Smruti loves innovating. Her product list is interesting and exhaustive. From all kinds of bags, purses, clutches, jewellery pouches to laptop sleeves, microwaveable lids and all kinds of organisers, Smruti’s products are not only attractive but high on the utility quotient and value for money. Smruti has come up with an interesting concept, give her a used silk saree and you get 10 pretty pouches or the traditional batwa of that saree in return! This way you recycle the worn out saree into something pretty that can be used during weddings for giveaways!
Smruti loves interacting with her customers and providing customised solutions. She understands their requirement and designs products accordingly. So from making 100 odd giveaway pouches for occasions to making bespoke bags, Smruti does it all.
Smruti a fourth generation sewer loves being hands on with the process of stitching. Having learnt stitching at the young age of 15, Smruti is an expert and enjoys the detailing and the intricacies of the process. She has also built a team of women with a background and interest in stitching. She plans to train many more ladies so that she can get her work done and help them in their livelihood.
Smruti is also getting into the corporate gifting segment and is coming up with interesting and economical products that have a unisex appeal.
Her products are available online, on her page : Raveesh and also at Aadyaa Studio, Prabhat Road, Pune.
